The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, owes its existence to the partition of the country in August,1947. It is one of the premier institution of India with a very rich collection of Gandharan sculptures, Pahari and Rajasthani miniature paintings. Before the partition in 1947, the collection of art objects, paintings, sculptures and decorative arts, were housed in the Central Museum, Lahore the then capital of Punjab.

Le Corbusier Centre has been set up by the Chandigarh Administration, at the old Sector 19 office of the city’s architect, Le Corbusier. The Swiss-French architect used the office while conceptualizing the city almost six decades ago. The Centre displays and exhibits the life and works of Le Corbusier, so that tourists and future generations may be able to acquaint themselves with the rich cultural heritage of the city.

Cactus Garden is Asia's biggest garden devoted to rare and endangered 3500 species of cacti. The outdoor Cactus Garden has 25 raised ground features, and three water bodies with waterways. On raised mounds about 800 species of Cacti and Succulents have been naturalized.

Garden of fragrance is a must visit garden of the city. It is famous for its distinctive aromatic and fragrant plants. Some of the fragrant plants that can be found here are Raat ki rani, demask roase, motia, Champa, Haar Shingar, mehndi and varieties of jasmine.

It's a sculpture garden made by Mr. Nek Chand. It consists of man-made interlinked waterfalls and many other fascinating sculptures that have been made of scrap & other kinds of wastes like bottles, glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, and electrical waste.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, is a botanical garden spread over 30 acres of land with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different species. It is named after India's former president, Zakir Hussain and was created in 1967.

Sukhna Lake is an artificial lake at the foothills of the Himalayas, the Shivalik hills. This 3 km² rainfed lake was created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. It's a beautiful sight to the eyes and an amazing site to visit to refresh yourself.

ChandiMandir is a sacred place dedicated to Chandi, the goddess of power. The alluring surroundings along with the intricately carved interiors of the temple grab the attention of people. The ideal time to visit this temple is the festive period of Navratri, when the temple is adorned beautifully.

Mata Mansa Devi Temple at Panchkula is a portrait of Himalayan culture and faith. The shrine located on the foothills of Shivalik is an ideal of the old tradition of ‘Shakti’ admired in Northern India. Himalaya, considered the house of Shiva and his consort 'shakti,' became the center of Shakti worship.
